Can We Afford Not To Call On The Name of Jesus?

Updated: Jul 22, 2020

Kneeling at the cross to call on Jesus

At a time, where we are so far from God, how do we hear him, how do we get back to that place of seeking him? The simple answer is prayer, fervent, consistent prayer. We must fall back on our knees, calling on the name of Jesus and he will answer. It is he who will cleanse us and renew in us a right spirit. It is he who giveth us the power to overcome sin, doctrines of devils, warfare, and the outcry of darkness in this world. For If God be for us, who can be against us? –Romans 8:31

In this day and time, Christianity is not popular, God is not popular, and prayer is not popular. Presently, anywhere you go in the world, the disdain for Christianity is prevalent. In Israel, the People of God reverence and worship God in secret to preserve their lives. Christians who declare their love for God are denied even the basic necessities of life.

We were warned of these times; the word of God has not left us void. According to 2 Timothy 2:12, If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us. Hate groups such as Isis are forcing people to deny the true and living God. Christians, not only adults but children, who will not denounce the name of Jesus and those who declare Jesus as Lord, face brutal painful deaths. Isis is now infiltrating, the United States. There have been copious stories, on the news, of young Americans teaming up with Isis and planning terrorist attacks on US soil.

Not only groups who seek to kill, but to silence and stifle the power of God on earth threaten Christianity. Atheist groups, such as Madalyn Murray O’Hair’s American Atheists are responsible for the Christian climate we encounter these days. It is now unlawful to openly worship and call on the name of Jesus in schools, in courtrooms or practically any public place. Christians are shunned, put down and openly discriminated against for standing on the word of God; for instance standing against perversion and other sins.

Despite the undeniable impact of these groups on Christianity, the real truth is that “Christians are equally responsible, if not more, for the dark religious climate we face today.” Many of us, have begun to turn to the ways of the world, and deny the truth of God. Countless churches no longer reverence God but money, not holiness but imperfection, not truth but fallacy. Some religious leaders are committing adultery and perverted sin, using the pulpit to solicit self-gratification rather than salvation, and delivering mischievous messages out-of-line with the word of God.

On top of this, many believe that our leaders are using the Christian faith to perpetuate evil against the people of foreign lands, all in the name of Jesus. No wonder, we are so hated. Can we expect non-believers to hunger, to thirst, after a God who seems powerless to cleanse his own saints and appears to sanction treacherous evils? Or are we unconcerned? It is imperative that we stop treating Jesus as a good luck charm for money, power, and things. The bible says: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. -Matthew 6:33

Regardless of the opposition we face as Christians in this land, God will fight the battle of those who follow him. Per Isaiah 54:17, no weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord. But are we righteous? Are we his servants? Shall we continue to turn away from godliness?

Common consensus nowadays is that the church is far gone. The church is lacking in joy, fire, anointing and power. Moreover, the church is remiss of the power to break strong holds and annihilate the weapons that hold us captive. If indeed, these assertions are true, where is the power and where did the power go? Be ye beseeched, the power never left.

You must take hold of the power of God as Daniel did. For the bible says, in Daniel 6:10 Now when Daniel knew that the document was signed, he entered his house; and he continued kneeling on his knees three times a day, praying and giving thanks before his God, as he had been doing previously. We must have boldness to exact a life of continuous prayer, despite our current environment.

As we come into a place of persistent prayer, we are not only cleansed from unrighteousness but anointed with the fire of the holy ghost, the power to set the captive free. Though Daniel was held captive in the lion’s den, his consistent fervent prayer life allowed him to reach God. Not because he prayed in the midst of trouble, but because he always prayed and had a close relationship with God. He not only heard Daniel’s cry, but the righteous fasting prayer of the king did God also heed:

Then the king gave orders, and Daniel was brought in and cast into the lions’ den. The king spoke and said to Daniel, “Your God whom you constantly serve will Himself deliver you.” And a stone was brought and laid over the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the signet rings of his nobles, so that nothing might be changed in regard to Daniel. Then the king went off to his palace and spent the night fasting, and no entertainment was brought before him; and his sleep fled from him. Then the king arose with the dawn, at the break of day, and went in haste to the lions’ den. And when he had come near the den to Daniel, he cried out with a troubled voice. The king spoke and said to Daniel, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you constantly serve, been able to deliver you from the lions?” Then Daniel spoke to the king, “O king, live forever! “My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not harmed me… Daniel 6:16-22

For he hath already told us, no weapon formed against thee shall prosper. If it is not God’s will for the undertaker to overthrow thee, if your work is not finished on earth, and thou has fallen on your knees and taken a closer walk with Jesus, will he not hear thy cry? Will he not leave thee or desert thee, if thou would fall on thy knees and honor him? Can you afford to have God turn from you, as ye hath done he, in the time of trouble?

Can you sanction God not hearing your call, because you have not developed a relationship with him? There was a time, when saints met each other in prayer and continued to pray together all night in shut-ins throughout the land. In these times, there was much peace and love on earth and the spirit of God was always present. Nowadays, there is scarcity in finding places where people pray in lieu of being entertained, God will not cast his pearls to swine. We must humble ourselves and pray and turn from all our wicked ways for God to answer. Manifest KPG Ministries, All Night Prayer, we shall be “Calling on the Name of Jesus.” Now the question is: can we afford not to call on the name of Jesus?
